Old Instructions on how to use the catalog


There is no printing process known that can show the real beauty of quality glassware. (Note: things have changed since 1938!!) Therefore, these illustrations will not show the brilliant polish, the amazing clearness, the glowing beauty of the colors, and the other characteristics that make Fostoria the finest modern American glass.

Knowing this, we have tried to make this new catalog a simple workable reference book to aid you in ordering for your stock or for your customers.

With the large and varied line which we manufacture it is, of course, impossible to show everything . . . only the most active patterns and pieces are illustrated. If you have designs you wish to match, please do not hesitate to write to us for we may have this pattern in stock even though it is not shown in the catalog.

Because we are constantly adding new colors and dropping old ones, we have made no attempt to list the colors in the catalog. They will be found instead in the price list. (Note: If anyone has one of these I would love to buy/borrow it.) This catalog is made in loose-leaf form so that additions can be made and the new sheets placed with the pattern or group to which they belong.

We hope you will use this catalog. Constant reference to it will remind you of many items that have sold well for you and which may have been overlooked when re-orders were made. Use it, too, in working with your customers. No dealer can carry the entire Fostoria line, but reference to your catalog, when your customer cannot find just what she is looking for, may enable you to make a sale that otherwise would be lost.
